All people aged between 50 and 69 living in a canton with an organized screening program are invited to undergo screening. The screening programs receive from their canton the names and addresses of the people who are to be invited. This is part of the cantons' public health objectives.
The screening program in your canton will be informed if you have already been screened. If you participate
in this study, the screening program will share your data with the research team. We comply with the strict
Swiss data protection regulations. Any inappropriate use of your data is prohibited. To find out more about
data protection, click here.
An undesirable effect that could occur during this study is a possible increase in anxiety linked to information about colon cancer. If you feel any anxiety, please talk to your GP or contact the research team. Screening remains a very good way of avoiding colon cancer.
This depends on the screening test you choose. If you decide to take a FIT test, you'll pay around CHF 5. If you prefer a colonoscopy, you'll pay between CHF 80 and 160. The price of a colonoscopy depends on the complexity of the examination. For example, if the doctor finds polyps, he has to remove them and send them to a laboratory for analysis, which involves additional costs.
The instructions are different for each canton. Consult the website of your canton's screening program for
